Katelyn Whelchel, who serves as the Perry School District’s Activities Director (AD), shares her gratitude before her departure in July.

Whelchel has worked in the athletic department assisting with volleyball and was approached about the AD position in 2022, which she decided to accept due to her involvement in sports. Whelchel acknowledges that she will be resigning from her position this summer and took a moment to thank her hometown community for the support.

“It’s been a true honor to come back to serve our students. I grew up here, I went to school here, and I believe I truly understand what it means to be a Bluejay and Jayette, and I’m so thankful that I’ve had the opportunity, especially the last two years to serve in a leadership role, and help kind of support our Bluejay and Jayette athletics and activities and help guide them in the right direction and I think we have great staff here to support that as well, and we’re doing some really great things for our students.”

Whelchel is a Perry High School graduate and is set to finish out the school year then make her resignation final in July as a new AD will come to fill the position to begin the 2024-2025 school year.
