Property owners in Greene County are reminded to pay their property taxes by the end of March.
Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen tells Raccoon Valley Radio the second half of property taxes are usually due on March 31st, but since that date falls on a Sunday, property taxes are not due until Monday, April 1st. If property taxes are not paid by then, Mechaelsen says there is a 1.5 percent penalty that is assessed starting April 2nd. Then, for each additional month the taxes are not paid, there is an additional 1.5 percent monthly penalty.
