The high school soccer teams from Greene County High School will play in scrimmages today and tomorrow. Coach Maribel Hernandez’ girls’ team plays West Central Valley east of Stuart at 4:30 p.m. today in a scrimmage that will not count on the season record. The Greene County boys scrimmage at Denison tomorrow at 11 a.m. and again, it won’t count on the record. The girls’ scrimmage was originally set for Jefferson, but with precipitation expected, it was moved from natural grass at Linduska Field to the Wildcats’ artificial turf field.

The regular season for both the girls and boys will start on Tuesday, March 26. The girls will play at Linduska Field in Jefferson vs. Grand View Christian (Des Moines). The Rams won just one girls’ game last season with the 2023 contest vs. GVC one of their closer games of the season.

Carl Behne is the boys’ head coach and he and assistant coach Chad Black have a number of experienced players with State tournament experience. The Rams have qualified for soccer State tournaments in three of their five prior seasons, including in 2023.
