The All-State Speech Festival is coming up on Monday and Perry will be taking two students.

Perry Speech Coach Mandy Meyers shares with Raccoon Valley Radio that senior Riley Sergent and junior Ethan Jackson earned Division One Ratings at the state competition on March 9th that was hosted at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School. Jackson describes how Meyers has helped his confidence.

“I’ve learned how to be more assertive when there’s something I have my mind set on. Beforehand I was just really tentative, I didn’t really like going out of my comfort zone, but all of my coaches, especially Mandy, have been helping me to be more confident in myself.”

Jackson will perform his poetry piece, while Sergent will take the stage for musical theater. The University of Northern Iowa is the venue for the All-State Festival on Monday.
