The Mary J Barnett Memorial Library is ready for fun this month.

Library Director Jerri Hawkins says that the first event is their Between the Covers Book Club meeting, where the club will go over the book “How Beautiful We Were” by Imbolo Mbue, and on April 10th they will have their Lunch and Learn with Dementia Friends Iowa as the guest speakers. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they also have an opioids and naloxone distribution training on April 11th with New Opportunities.

“Well, I think it’s an ongoing pandemic with a lot of overdoses with opioids, and the New Opportunities came to us and asked if they could host that here. So we are looking forward to having them here to help spread the information out on how people can possibly save somebody that might be overdosing on an opioid.”

Hawkins mentions they will also have an After School Program presented by Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach on April 15th at 3:30pm, plus their monthly cook book club meeting on April 18th, with the group’s potluck focusing on recipes from “Make It Take It 2023.”
