Iowa Representative in the 28th District, David Young shares his gratitude for Governor Kim Reynolds signing House File 2653 into law.

A recent press release from the governor’s department claims that the law will use management levy funds to pay for retention bonus payments by the Department of Education supporting the Perry Community School District. Representative Young tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the House wants the Perry community to know that they are listening.

“Because what happen can really put a fear and scare into the current employees in Perry, and we wanted to make sure that they were seen, and that they knew that they were going to be paid attention to, and that we can offer them something to keep them within the Perry School District and keep them going on and keep fighting for their kids in the classroom, and they deserved it.”

Young mentions that the bill was introduced by Representative Carter Nordman, who represents Perry. The bill will also allow the Perry School District to use up $700,000 for the retention bonuses.
