The Stuart City Council will meet in regular session tonight.
The Council will hold a public hearing on the fiscal year 2024-25 proposed budget, then consider for approval a resolution adopting the budget, putting a stop sign at the intersection of North 5th Street and North Fremont Street, and designating Foley Street and All Saints Drive as no parking zones. They will also consider for approval the 2024 list of Stuart fire officers, and hear an update on the new fire truck.
The Council will then hear from the Menlo American Legion Auxiliary on an Iowa Service Dog fundraiser, then consider for approval a request to close a street by Johnnie’s Tap and a request to vacate an alley by Christina and David Ernster. They will discuss the vacated segments of North Harrison Street and North Gaines Street between North 8th Street and North 9th Street, and set a public hearing date for the proposed Coon Valley Telephone fiber optic project.
The Council will also hear from the Stuart Public Library on grant dollars received, then consider a pay application for street lighting in the Wambold 3rd addition for $32,348.45, a partial payment for the Safe Routes to School project for $20,212.91, a partial payment for the Wambold Phase Three Housing for $183,695.26 and a manhole project pay application. They will then hear updates from the Stuart Rescue and Police Departments, and from Stuart Economic Development Director Matt Funk.
