The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Drama Department has a busy weekend with three performances, starting tonight.
The drama department will be presenting “Shakespeare Interrupted” at the high school tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday. Tonight and tomorrow’s performance will be at 7pm and Sunday, the show begins at 2pm. According to Drama Director Molly Longman, half of the characters are from Shakespeare’s world while the other half are more modern characters who wander into the universe. Senior Dausen Daugherty is playing “The Ghost,” and tells Raccoon Valley Radio his process for preparing for his character.
“I’ve just been trying to get my voice down right for it, to express out more of being whimsical and beyond living. So it’s just been a process trying to get that voice correct and the posture, and the way of walking as a ghost.”
Senior Chloe Clarke plays a modern day parent, and says she found inspiration at a famous retail store.
“I watched people at Target. Just pulled from all my knowledge of people being annoying and tried to really be the most annoying version of myself that I could be.”
Senior Student Director Emma McDowell mentioned that rehearsals began at the beginning of February, which is typically later than normal and was nervous about having enough time for practices, but expresses that the department was able to pick things up quickly.
Tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $4 for ADM students and staff, and $6 for adults. However, Longman explains that it is reserved seating and encourages people to buy tickets ahead of time online. For more information, click here. Also, view the full list of performers below.
