With the current legislative session coming to a close, one Senator shares some bills that piqued her interest during the last several weeks.
Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that there were a few traffic bills that she followed throughout the session. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that one was a bill she introduced to combat drivers camping in the left lane on multi-lane highways.
“It didn’t make it over the finish line. Once it got out of the Senate, it didn’t make it over the finish line in the House. That is honestly a traffic safety issue that I think we really need to take a hard look at. We continue to have high traffic fatality rates in the state. So whether it’s tied directly to distracted driving, folks camping in the left lane, folks driving slowly in the left lane are a large part of that traffic fatality conversation we have when they’re traveling at high rates of speed and are slowing up the flow of traffic.”
Sinclair mentions that some other traffic related bills that were of interest to her included one pertaining to traffic/speed cameras, and one pertaining to hands free driving.
