An Adel man was sentenced to prison in Dallas County District Court for a December incident. 

According to court documents, 46-year-old Daniel Grogan pled guilty to two Class D Felonies for knowingly leaving a scene of an accident resulting in serious injury and serious injury by vehicle, as well as pleading guilty to a serious misdemeanor of operating while under the influence. He was sentenced to prison not to exceed 10 years.

The charges stemmed from an incident on December 11th. Adel Police responded to a call that a 2012 Dodge Journey crashed into a home in the 300 block of South 10th Street late that evening. The victim was taken to a Des Moines Hospital and Grogan admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day and took lorazepam before driving.

Grogan was also ordered to pay $3,300 in fines, surcharges, victim restitution, court costs, and court appointed attorney fees. Court documents show that Grogan was originally charged with two Class D Felonies for knowingly leaving a scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, two Class D Felonies for serious injury by vehicle, a serious misdemeanor for his first offense for an OWI, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for failure to provide proof of liability, leaving the scene of an accident-property damage only, and failure to maintain control. 

As per the plea agreement, charges dismissed include leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, serious injury by vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
