While the education bill has been the hot topic for the 2024 Iowa Legislative Session, there are other bills that have made their way through the chambers.

Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair mentions that one bill pertains to proclamations of disaster emergencies. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio what that bill does.

“Some pretty basic details. That was a department bill that came to us from the Department of Homeland Security. And it was just helping to align our state code with the federal code related to those disaster proclamations.”

Sinclair mentions that the federal code can change fairly frequently, and this bill made sure that Iowa’s state code matched. She adds that this is important, because in the cases where a disaster emergency is made, the areas affected can receive aid easier.
