With severe weather being a more common occurrence in the spring, Dallas County Emergency Management Director AJ Seely stresses to have preparations in place for home and at work.

Following the severe weather in the Dallas County area on Tuesday, Seely tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it’s a good reminder to have designated spots at a workplace. He explains that most severe weather happens during the evening when people are home, but there are instances where it can occur during work hours. Seely suggest talking with co-workers to pick out an area to go in the event of bad weather.

“Talk about what space that might be. Make sure that the space is accessible and you can there and get all the people in there that need to be in there.”

Seely emphasizes heading to the lowest floor of the building, if possible, or into a room with minimal or no windows is typically the safest location during any severe weather event.
