A Harcourt man was recently sentenced to probation for stalking an individual in Jefferson.
According to court documents, 35-year-old Zein Ibrahim pled guilty to a Class D Felony for stalking-violation of protective order. He had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for three years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. Ibrahim also pled guilty to two counts of contempt of court proceedings and was sentenced to seven days in the Greene County Jail for each count and those were to be served concurrently. Additionally, the no contact order with the victim will remain in place for five years.
The charge stemmed from an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department. Court documents show that evidence was found that Ibrahim attempted several times from February 3rd-28th to contact the same individual that had a no contact order in place. Ibrahim even visited the victim’s place of employment.
Ibrahim was also ordered to pay over $500 in a stalking surcharge, court-appointed attorney fees, and court costs. As per the plea agreement, the two simple misdemeanors for third degree harassment were dismissed.
