An early Friday afternoon, short-lived thunderstorm activated the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Guthrie County and northwestern Greene County around 12:30pm. Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team broke into regular programming on KKRF 107.9FM and KGRA 98.9FM with live coverage of the storm. The primary threats were high winds and heavy rainfall.

The thunderstorm dropped below severe levels in northeastern Guthrie County and regular programming was resumed at 1:05pm. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Deputy Coordinator Jeremy Cooper only reported moderate rainfall and strong winds. The same warning dropped off for northwestern Greene County at 1:14pm and regular programming picked up back. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams said since the storm was on the county line, no storm spotters were deployed and only reported strong winds.

The National Weather Service has Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties under a tornado watch until 9pm.
