Severe weather could be making its way within the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area this afternoon into the evening.

The National Weather Service states that scattered thunderstorms will be in Central Iowa, from 4 to 11pm. According to Meteorologist Brad Small, showers will begin along the Missouri River then will head south and east into the evening hours, affecting Greene, Guthrie, and Dallas counties between 6-8pm or possibly a little later.

Small notes that damaging winds and large hail will be traveling with the storms. He claims that tornadoes can’t be ruled out, but it shouldn’t be as devastating as Friday’s storm.

“We’re not expecting an outbreak like Friday, but the threat of tornadoes is still there. This should move through during the evening with not much precip overnight.”

The National Weather Service has Central Iowa in an enhanced risk for severe weather.
