Coach Carl Behne’s Greene County High School boys’ soccer team went to Monroe on Monday night and won 4-0 vs. PCM. The teams have opposite records with the Rams at 7-2 and the Mustangs 2-7. Senior Gesser Gutierres scored all four goals, two in each half. The quartet of goals puts the prolific goal scorer at 31 for the six matches he’s played this season and he sits at an even 100 for his career. Seniors Nathan Behne and Bryney Ruzicka, plus sophomore Fredy Aguillar each had one assist. The coach of the Rams added that Monday was Ruzicka’s birthday.
Coach Behne said goalkeeper senior Gabe Ebersole had just two saves, and he added the back line played very well and cleared out any real chances. He added, “A combination of rest, hard work, and film this week to prep for a very tough tourney this weekend in Nevada.”
An additional note on Guttieres establishes him as the first Ram with 100 career goals. 2020 graduate Junior Gutierres has the single season record with 55 goals, but the Rams didn’t start their own soccer program until he was a junior and he had just two seasons with the Rams.
