The last week of Greene County High School’s track & field regular season began last night at the North Polk Comets Coed Invite at Alleman. The Rams were second behind PCM (Monroe) 124.5-109 on the boys’ side and the girls were sixth with host NP winning.

There were four wins for the Greene County boys with sophomore Nick Madsen winning twice. Madsen won the 100 meter dash in 11;40 seconds, and doubled up by finishing first in the 200 meter dash in :22.99. Sophomore Drew Wolterman won the 800 meter dash in 2:04.81 and junior Isaac Carman was the discus throw winner at 155′ 5″.

The Rams were winners three times on the girls’ side with sophomore Kaycee Pittman a double winner.Pittman took first in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:15.53 and in the 800 meter run in 2:31.81. Junior Emma Ewalt won the discus throw at 112′ 7″.

The Heart of Iowa Activities Coed Conference Meet is this Thursday in Jewell with South Hamilton as the host, weather permitting. Starting time is 4 p.m. and that will end the regular season. The postseason begins on Thursday, May 9 for a Class 2A State Qualifying Meet with Manson-Northwest Webster the host.
