Greene County residents are invited to the second induction class to the Fine Arts Hall of Fame and Awards Concert.
The event takes place at the high school auditorium this coming Monday with a reception at 6pm, following by the induction ceremony at 6:30 and the concert will round out the evening. The Fine Arts Hall of Fame precedes the Awards Concert with the high school band and choir students performing.
The 2024 induction class includes 1976 Scranton High School graduate Penny (Johnson) Hogan for being one of the first all-state music selections for Scranton, the 2001 Jefferson-Scarnton graduate Ryan Van Gilder, who was an all-stater for band. Additionally, Dan Rasmussen, who graduated from J-S in 2006 and was a four-time all-state vocalist, along with Michael Hoskins, who was a 2011 graduate and was a six-time all-state performer for individual and large group speech. Finally, the 2001 all-state large group speech acting group of Andrew Hoyt, Matt Morain, and Sara (Von Ahsen) Vantaggio were also the critic’s choice award winner.
Greene County Activities Director David Wright shares his thoughts on having the induction ceremony, coupled with the awards concert.
“It worked well last year. It’s something that we kind of want to have our students be able to recognize people who have been successful in that arena. Feedback was positive. Then, those people coming back, being in the crowd for the concert is good. For our kids to be able to perform for those that have had a lot of success in that area. I think it works out well and it pairs up well.”
Monday’s event is free and open to the public.
