Four members of the Perry Police Department were awarded Iowa Medals of Merit from Third District Congressman Zach Nunn.

A press release states that Nunn visited the department on April 25th to thank the officers that responded to the January 4th shooting at Perry High School. The shooting left three dead, including High School Principal Dan Marburger. 

Nunn honored four officers with the Iowa Medal of Merit including Police Chief Eric Vaughn, Officers Micaela Zagar and Cameron Martinez, and Perry School Resource Officer Josh Moore. According to the press release, the Iowa Medal of Merit recognizes heroes in a community that serve their community honorably.
