A Churdan man was recently sentenced to prison after drugs and a firearm magazine were recovered from a search warrant.

According to court documents, 38-year-old Justin Downs pled guilty to a Class D Felony for possession of a firearm by a domestic abuse offender and an aggravated misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to five years in prison for the felony charge and two years in prison for the misdemeanor, with those sentences to be served consecutively for a total of seven years.

The charges stemmed from an executed search warrant on February 20th at a home in the 900 block of Head Street in Churdan. Drug-related items and a gun magazine with live .380 caliber rounds were recovered that belonged to Downs. 

As per the plea agreement, Downs had a serious misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of marijuana dismissed.
