A Jefferson man was sentenced to probation for drugs.
According to court documents, 38-year-old Jesse Kniffin pled guilty to a Class D Felony for possession of marijuana and a serious misdemeanor for unlawful possession of prescription drugs. He was placed on probation for two years with the Boone/Greene County Probation Services.
The charges stemmed from an investigation with the Jefferson Police Department that began on June 13, 2023. A drug deal was set up where the witness purchased marijuana from 40-year-old Rebecca Shubert, who picked up the illegal substance from Kniffin. Court documents show a search warrant was executed at Kniffin and 25-year-old Harmony Thompson’s residence on July 14th in the 300 block of South Walnut Street. Drug-related items were found and were submitted to the Criminalistics Laboratory and the results were positive for marijuana and prescription drugs that didn’t belong to either suspect.
Court documents show that Kniffin was also ordered to pay over $2,000 in civil penalties, court costs and court-appointed attorney fees. As per his plea agreement, Kniffin had two other felonies for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and another misdemeanor for unlawful possession of prescription drugs dismissed.
