The regular season has concluded and Perry will look to have State qualifiers for the 2024 Iowa High School State Track & Field Championships, scheduled for May 16-18 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The schedule today has them at North Polk High School. Field events beginning at 4P and Track events at 4:45P. The Bluejays and Jayettes have both struggled in the team portions for most of the season, but there are a couple athletes that could qualify with a fast enough time. For anyone to advance, they must be top two at tonight’s meet or be one of the next eight best performers statewide in 3A.
Owen Myers qualified for the State Tournament last year as a sophomore. He’ll look to do the same this year in the 400M Hurdles. Myers is ranked 7th in the meet in the event and would have to break a personal best for an automatic qualifying time. Renzo Saenz is the other Bluejay who made it to State last year. He is ranked sixth at tonight’s meet in the 100M. He would also need a new personal best to receive one of the two automatic qualifying spots.
