A teacher at Perry High School recently received a prestigious award.

Perry High School Special Education Teacher Kris Finn was granted the Golden Apple Award for her outstanding work. Principal Brad Snowgren shares that students Grace Garrett and Zoey Vail nominated Mrs. Finn for the award. The students volunteer to do work in Mrs. Finn’s classroom and were inspired by how much she cares for all the students at the high school. Mrs. Finn was surprised to be the recipient of the Golden Apple Award.

“I had no clue that was going to happen. Everyone was so nice and generous, and was totally surprised from those girls (Garrett & Vail). They’ve been coming into my room and helping with my students for a couple of years now and they’re just part of our little group.”

Mrs. Finn has been teaching in the Perry School District for 34 years. Snowgren explains that the award is sponsored by IMT Insurance and is given out nine times during the year. He elaborates that each month several teachers are nominated by students and then that’s submitted to a committee, who then chooses an applicant after reviewing all the nominations.
