The Warren Cultural Center will be hosting an important historical exhibit starting today.

The World War I Honor Roll Traveling Display will be housed at the WCC today through May 29th. Board Member Thaddeus Hawley tells Raccoon Valley Radio more about the display.

“In 1920, the State Historical Society of Iowa collected photographs from Iowa families who lost loved ones during the war. It sent out another call for photographs in 2017 to shore up its official records during the war’s 100th Anniversary. This display that we have on display is the result of that research and a tribute to the generations of Iowans who sacrificed their lives to the cause of freedom.”

Hawley mentions that Brenda Sidey, who oversees the Sidey Collection, will be bringing photographs and items from the collection that highlight Iowans from Adair County. He adds that there will be special hours for individuals to visit the display. The WCC will be open for viewing of the World War I Honor Roll Traveling Display from 9am to 4pm Monday through Thursday, 11am to 4pm on Friday, and 10am to 3pm on Saturday. Memorial Day Weekend they will be open 10am to 3pm on May 25th and 1-3pm on May 26th and 27th. The display will remain at the WCC until May 29th.
