Dallas Center – Grimes girls softball is wrapping up their first week of practice, and will be looking to put together another great year in keeping up with their strong tradition.
For legendary coach Steve Schlafke, this will be final season with DCG softball as he will be retiring at the end of the season, and the Mustangs will be looking to send him out in style in what should be a very intriguing season.
DCG was able to go 29-11 in the 2023 season and were one game short of the state tournament after getting upset in their regional. A lot of that team returns for this upcoming season, and with 13 seniors on the roster, will be one of the strongest teams in 4A and one of the best in the state as well.
The Mustangs will have another week of practice next week before officially getting their season underway on Monday, May 20th when they take on Harlan in their first game of the season. Throughout the summer make sure you catch some DCG baseball/softball on the KDLS2 stream and select games on the new 943, 997, and AM 1310 KDLS.
