AC/GC Graduating Senior Hayden Coffman after receiving scholarship with Raccoon Valley Radio General Manager John McGee

An Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center graduating senior is one of the recipients of the 2024 Raccoon Valley Radio Business and Broadcasting Scholarship.

Senior Hayden Coffman is planning to further her education at the University of Iowa, with a major in marketing and minor in communications. She participated in cross country, volleyball and softball for four years, track for three and basketball for two, as well as being a manager for the wrestling team for two years. AC/GC Volleyball Coach and Guidance Counselor Barb South tells Raccoon Valley Radio what she believes makes Coffman special.

“The thing I love about Hayden is that she’s always willing to help the younger kids in the community, and the younger kids on her team. She has this huge heart for all of the people around her. I think she’s able to pick up on who needs some encouragement or who needs some support and help, and she is that person to step up and do that.”

South also highlights the hard work Coffman has shown in her years at AC/GC, the evidence of which can be seen in dual-sporting cross country and volleyball her entire high school career. Coffman and the second 2024 recipient of the Raccoon Valley Radio Business and Broadcasting Scholarship, Lilly Riley of Perry High School, will both receive $300 as they further their education, and pursue careers in business or communications.
