The Iowa Coed High School State Track & Field Championships began yesterday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Day two will see Greene County compete in three events for boys and two for girls.  Paton-Churdan freshman Trevon Keely competes in the Class 1A high jump set for 2:05 p.m  today, marking the first time the school has had a boy qualify for a State Track & Field Meet for the first times in several years.

Greene County will have junior Emma Ewalt in the Class 2A girls’ discus throw at 9 a.m. and junior Isaac Carman in the discus throw for boys at 11:30 a.m. The Rams will send the girls’ stance medley relay to the Jim Duncan Track at 9 a.m. with sophomores Addison Gannon, senior Kaylee Stalder, sophomore Savanah Lansman, and sophomore Kaycee Pittman.  A short time later the Rams will put their boys’ distance medley relay on the track with senior Trey Schilling, and sophomores Broc Stream, Nick Madsen, and Drew Wolterman. The boys also will run the preliminary of the boys’ 4 x 100 meter relay with Schilling, senior Nathan Behne, Broc Stream, and Madsen.

Thursday, Madsen was 21st in the prelims of the 200 meter dash in 22.96 seconds. The Rams also finished 15th in the 4 x 800 meter relay in 8:19.88 with juniors Noah Hinote, Gavyn Winters, Nick Stream, and Wolterman.
