Perry Lutheran Homes Director of Marketing Mollie Clark describes the reason nursing homes are important during National Nursing Home Week.

Clark explains that there’s a perception around nursing homes being a gloomy place where elderly people spend the remainder of their lives. She says the mission at Perry Lutheran Homes is to learn about the residents on a personal level with activities they enjoy to best accommodate them. Clark claims that taking the time to make residents feel cherished leads to a rejuvenation in their life.

“They kind of come to life again and really start to enjoy living life and doing all the different things that you can do. And when you’re at the other half of your life and thinking about those things, a Christian nursing home is super important, so for them to know they are loved and cherished and cared about by staff, by God, is a really huge piece of what we do and what’s really important.”

National Nursing Home Week is from May 12th-18th.
