The Adel City Council met on Tuesday and a discussion was held about increasing the number of board members on the Dallas County Supervisors.

Adel Mayor Jim Peters shares with Raccoon Valley Radio that questions arose from the council about the advantages of adding two more members to the board of supervisors. The item was unanimously approved by the council and Peters adds that a letter was presented at the meeting detailing that 87.4% of Dallas County communities have signed on. Some of the cities that have agreed to increase the number of supervisors from three to five include the City of Adel, DeSoto, Perry, Minburn, Dallas Center, Dawson, Redfield, and Woodward.

Other items on the agenda that were approved included a resolution in support of a roundabout on U.S. Highway 169 near Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School and Southbridge Common Place Drive, a construction contract and bond for the Evans Park Trail Connection project, and an amendment to the current budget for fiscal year 2024 as presented. Additional items that were approved include a website sales agreement with Revize Software Solutions, an ordinance for adjusting storm water rates, and setting the fiscal year 2024-2025 fees for services.
