The Greene County High School Graduation Ceremony is taking place this Sunday.

Commencement will be at Linduska Field at 2pm and will feature Tim Bardole as the guest speaker. Bardole farms in the Rippey area and currently serves as the district at-large seat with the Iowa Soybean Association. According to guidance counselor Allison Wenck, there are 94 seniors who will be walking across the stage to receive their diploma on Sunday. The 2024 Senior Class Valedictorian is Nathan Behne and he describes how it feels to be the top ranked student in his graduating class, while also being a student-athlete.

“It’s pretty cool. I’ve worked pretty hard for it. I’ve had to do some homework, had to do some assignments late at night, worked pretty hard during some classes. It’s just nice to know that all the work paid off. With sports I missed some school days and some class periods, but all the teachers are really great about working with me and getting everything I need figured out. So I’ll tak to the teacher beforehand about what I’m going to miss, get it done and turn it in after the day on time.  That the teachers help a lot with it.”

Additionally, the Senior Awards Night was Wednesday and Wenck points out over $211,000 of local scholarships were awarded to the seniors to continue their education. The commencement ceremony will be livestream, and you can click the link below to watch it.  You can also click the link below to see the full award list.
