A Jefferson man was arrested for an alleged incident at Wild Rose Casino.
According to court documents, 36-year-old Jeremy Andrews won a jackpot of $1,263 from a slot machine around 11:25pm on May 5th. Andrews left the machine and spoke with Jason Whittrock, who attempted to claim the winnings. Whittrock also filled out paperwork, including a form that certified him as the winner under penalty of perjury.
After reviewing the video surveillance footage, the Division of Criminal Investigation Officer that was assigned to the casino confirmed these actions. Andrews’ information was run through the Iowa Department of Administrative Services Offset Program and found out he owed $15,000 in set offs.
Andrews was charged with a Class D Felony for gambling-avoid setoff and an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree fraudulent practice. He was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail under a $5,000 cash or surety bond. However, court documents show that he was released after paying 10 percent of the bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
