The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team begins the 2024 season with a win after outstanding pitching from Sophomore Lauren Hagedorn.

The Tigers defeated the Boone Toreadors 7-1 Monday night in Adel to pick up their first win of the year. Hagedorn was fantastic on the mound for ADM as she pitched all seven innings, allowed two hits, one run, walked two batters, but completed 13 strikeouts. Boone’s starting pitcher Carly Busch played four innings, allowed 10 hits, seven runs, two walks, and had two strikeouts. Junior Shannon Jenkins relieved Busch, pitching two innings with no hits, runs, walks, or strikeouts.

Offensively, the Tigers scored four runs off four hits in the second inning and three runs off four hits in the fourth. Scoring for ADM was Kennedy Stanford, Madi James, Ellis Smith, Lauren Troster (courtesy runner for Aubrey Winter), Aniston Tollari, Cameron Smith, and Hagedorn added a seventh with a homerun. Senior Gracie Gustafson scored the lone run for the Toreadors after reaching second base on an error.

ADM improves to 1-0 overall (1-0 inside Raccoon River Conference) and makes it seven consecutive wins against Boone, while the Toreadors fall to 0-1 overall (0-1 RRC). The Tigers will host Ankeny Centennial tonight in Adel at 7:15pm. Boone will have another road game in Ogden tomorrow also at 7:15pm.
