An ongoing project in the City of Jefferson just got a little bit longer.

The City Council approved a change order for the Wastewater Treatment Plant improvement project that would add 200 days to the end of the project. City Administrator Scott Peterson says the push back of the completion date is because the contractor, Shank Construction, is having issues with supply chain items that are electrical-related for some of the parts of the project.

“A lot of things cannot be done with the project until you are able to supply electricity to it. It’s really a vital part of finishing. So it does push this back 200 days. Time wise, it’s just another inconvenience to deal with during the extended construction period, but the practicality of it is that we’ll work through and everything will end up being fine.”

Peterson notes that the additional days needed to complete the project also necessitated the Council to approve an additional $120,000 to the engineering firm, Bolton and Menk, to account for their additional time needed to oversee the project. The new completion date is June 30, 2025.
