Officials have announced the number of people who have died and were injured from Tuesday’s tornado in Greenfield.

The Joint United Command has confirmed there were four fatalities and at least 35 people suffered injuries after an EF-3 tornado went through the county seat of Adair County. Iowa Department of Public Safety officials say the names and ages of those killed are not being released, pending family notification. Additionally, the number of injuries is probably higher because the 35 were patients that were treated at designated alternate care sites and at least 14 people were taken to other medical facilities out of Adair County by various EMS entities.

A press conference is scheduled for tomorrow where Governor Kim Reynolds and a representative from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be giving additional updates.

The Department of Public Safety urges anyone who believes they still have a friend or a loved one that has been unaccounted for in Greenfield can contact the Department of Public Safety Storm Lake State Communication Center at 712-732-1341.
