The LifeServe Blood Center will be hosting a blood drive tomorrow to support the community after the January 4th shooting at Perry High School.

LifeServe will have their bloodmobile unit available at the Dallas County Hospital tomorrow from 8am-3pm in the south parking lot. Director of Public Relations and Marketing of LifeServe Shay Willis illustrates that the special blood drive is able to happen with assistance from the Wells Fargo Foundation. Willis says Type O Blood is needed, but emphasizes following the tornadic events in Iowa, there’s a focus on two additional types.

“We actually have three blood types that are in critically low status. So, O Negative is most commonly the blood type that’s in that critically low status, but when we updated our inventory, we also have A Negative and B Negative in that same status.”

Willis encourages people to register as there are still spots available for the Perry Blood Drive. For more information, contact the LifeServe Blood Center at (515)-309-4852. Additionally, a special community event will also be held tomorrow to recognize the efforts from first responders and others during the January 4th shooting.
