The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team lost the first game of the 2024 season, but rebounded with a win on Saturday.
The Tigers had two games on Saturday as they looked to keep the undefeated season alive. ADM lost the first game to Ankeny, who is ranked five in Class 3A, 1-0 in extra innings. The Tigers and Hawks went the distance of nine innings with Ankeny scoring the only run of the game to end it in a walkoff. Sophomore Lauren Hagedorn pitched eight and three quarter innings with 10 strikeouts. That put the Tigers 3-1 overall on the season before another matchup against Interstate-35 to follow.
The second game saw the Roadrunners score first in the bottom of the first with the Tigers tying it in the top of the second. ADM would score three in the fourth and two in the fifth to make it 6-1 before I-35 got three in the bottom of the fifth to pull within two, but wouldn’t score anymore as the Tigers won 6-4. In the second game, Hagedorn pitched four and three quarter innings, striking out seven batters. Senior Aleah Johnson had two RBI’s (runner’s batted in) and a homerun. Also Junior Madi James had two RBI’s as well as a homerun herself.
ADM is now 4-1 overall on the season as they will return to action Tuesday evening for Teacher Appreciation Night in Adel playing Norwalk at 7:15pm.
