A local panel was recently held in response to the Tyson Foods Pork Plant closure in Perry this last Wednesday.

The organization of PerryNext held a panel discussion on Wednesday to provide answers to questions about the Tyson situation. According to Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti, four expert panelists in a variety of areas gave a behind the scenes outlook on Iowa Workforce’s involvement with offering support. Pasutti dives deeper into some of the topics that were covered during the panel.

“Discussion on how things work, what happens when that announcement is made, and what kind of action that happens behind the scenes and then with Iowa Workforce Development, their role in marketing the building, marketing other opportunities. We’re in a unique position where we have available workforce and we actually do have available sites and buildings in Perry, so what they’re doing to address that as well.”

In terms of future panel sessions, Pasutti details that continual conversations will happen as this panel was looked at to be the initial public address of updates for the community in regards to Tyson.
