A Boone man was recently sentenced to probation for a possession of methamphetamine incident in Greene County.
According to court documents, 35-year-old Kyle Habrich pled guilty to a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine. He had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for three years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
The charge stemmed from a traffic stop by an Iowa State Patrol Trooper on February 24th. Court documents show a trooper stopped Habrich’s vehicle for speeding. As the trooper was talking with Habrich and a passenger, he noticed the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. The trooper conducted a probably cause search of the vehicle and found drug-related items, including methamphetamine. Habrich admitted to possessing the drugs.
Habrich was also ordered to pay over $2,000 in fines, surcharges, court-appointed attorney fees and court costs. As per his plea agreement, Habrich had another felony charge for possessing a controlled substance dismissed.
