
The recent rains have benefited Iowa with most of the state seeing no drought, and portions of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area are soon to follow.
According to the US Drought Monitor, the northeastern side of Iowa is abnormally dry, along with parts of Greene, Guthrie, and Dallas counties in Central Iowa. The southern portion of Greene, and northern portions of Guthrie and Dallas counties are abnormally dry, while the rest of those counties are not currently suffering from drought.
The National Weather Services reports that as of May 30th Jefferson saw a total of 7.40 inches, Guthrie Center received 8.72 inches of precipitation, while Perry saw a total accumulation of 7.48 inches of rain, which were all above normal averages for the month of May.
