
Greene County ISU Extension has added a new position for the summer season.
Lizzy Allen is the Summer Program Coordinator with the Extension Office. She is a Greene County High School graduate who is going into her senior year at the University of Northern Iowa for elementary education. She currently works as an associate with elementary students at the Paton-Churdan School District.
The former 4-H’er that showed static projects with photography and visual arts, along with livestock with beef pen of three, talks about why she wanted to be the Summer Program Coordinator.
“With my background in childcare and going to school for elementary education I was really intrigued spending time with kids and getting more experience working with students and having some fun this summer.”
Allen’s main responsibilities is leading about 20 day camps from June through August with two age sections, including kindergarten through third grade and fourth through eighth grade. She describes what she is looking forward to the most in her new position.
“I’m looking forward to the relationships I get to grow with some new people and the time I get to spend with the students during the summer.”
