A Perry Police Department  dispatcher recently retired and Police Chief Eric Vaughn expresses gratitude for her commitment.

Lori Riley has retired after serving more than 30 years in the City of Perry, City of Adel, and Dallas County. Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Riley began with the police department in 1991 as a dispatcher before joining the Adel Police Department as an Administrative Assistant.

Vaughn explains that after a few years with the Adel Police Department, former Perry Police Chief Dan Brickner and him convinced Riley to return to fill their position as the communications supervisor, and recently was the records clerk following the transition of dispatch moving to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Vaughn is appreciative of the hard work and dedication from Riley.

“I can’t say enough about the work that Lori (Riley) did here. She’s a longtime resident of Perry, knew the community, knew the people here, and that’s just invaluable.”

Vaughn adds that Riley helped out in the Information Technology Department, as well as assisting in starting emergency medical dispatch allowing dispatchers to assist 911 callers with providing aid to victims. He realizes that her presence will be missed but is grateful for all the time he worked alongside her.
