A new system is now up and running at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.
The facility now has 24/7 access and Jefferson Parks and Recreation Director Denny Hammen explains how members who are 19 and older can use the rec center during non-staffed hours.
“The entry system will use the same card that our members are using now. They will have to bring their card. Currently, (with) somebody at the front desk, they can either use a number system or the card system. With the 24/7 access they will have to have the card, the numbers will not work.”
JPRD stresses one important item to keep in mind is if a member is found sharing their card with others or letting other individuals into the facility, regardless if they are a member or not, that individual’s membership card will be automatically suspended. Then that person must pay a fee to have their membership reinstated after serving a probationary period. Hammen notes that parents or guardians can bring their children in during non-staff hours.
“They just need to understand that they’ll be responsible for them. We’ll be able to follow up if there’s any problems that might occur because we will have the increased surveillance.”
The new staffed hours are Monday through Friday from 6am-8pm, Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday from noon-6pm. Click the link below to see the new rules for using 24/7 access.
