
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball team went toe-to-toe with Ogden Friday evening after winning an entertaining contest.
The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 7-5 with both teams possessing the lead multiple times. ADM scored the initial run of the game in the top of the first inning with Senior Grant Rychnovsky after an RBI (Runner Batted In) from Junior Grant Jansen. Ogden responded in the bottom of the first when Senior Carson Moorman was batted in from Sophomore Colson Carson to tie the game 1-1 at the end of one. The Bulldogs took the 2-1 lead after the second when Senior Caleb Wisecup scored one.
The rest of the game, ADM scored three in the third to lead 3-2, then it was three from Ogden in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-3 lead at the end of four innings. The sixth inning was the difference maker for ADM as they manage to get four runners in thanks to a three-run triple from Rychnovsky and that would be the last of the scoring to prevail the Tigers to the 7-5 victory.
Leading scorer for the Bulldogs was Wisecup with two, followed by Tanner Rohe, Carson Moorman, and CeJay Jones. For ADM, it was Rychnovsky who captured three runs, then Jaxon Book, Reed Ausdemore, Leyton Gerleman, and Ben Plaisance all scoring one a piece.
Winning pitcher was ADM’s Freshman Alex Jensen who pitched three innings, allowed three hits, walked two batters, and had four strikeouts. Starting Pitcher Jaxon Book pitched four innings, allowed eight hits, five runs, walked two batters, and had three strikeouts.
Ogden started Senior Colby Rohe who pitched four innings, allowed six hits, three runs, walked two batters and had two strikeouts. Wisecup pitched one inning, allowed six hits, and four runs, with Sophomore Carson Mueggenberg going one inning, allowed one hits, walked two batters, and struck out one.
The Tigers improve to 5-8 on the season and is playing two games in the Boone Invitational today. First game is against Des Moines Lincoln at 10am followed by Algona at 12:30pm (games played at DMACC Boone Campus). The Bulldogs fall 3-8 overall and will host Woodward-Granger Monday evening at 7pm.
