Greene County’s baseball team fell to 0-7 on the season and 0-5 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference on Friday night. West Marshall (State Center) was a winner at Allensworth Field vs. the Rams by a final of 8-0. The Trojans scored all of their runs in the first three innings as they improved to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
The Rams had three hits, all singles, and they are still searching for their first extra base this this season. Juniors Camden Jacobs and Lane Fields, along with sophomore Nathan Towers, had the hits for the Rams. Jacobs also had one stolen base.
Junior Crew Conner pitched all seven innings for the Rams, allowing eight earned runs on eight hits, two walks, and one batter hit with a pitch. He struck out the Trojans twice. Greene County’s defense was charged with just one error.
Greene County’s next game is Monday at Saydel High School baseball in Des Moines.
