The history of auctioneering will be the focus of this Friday’s program with the Greene County Historical Society.

Grand Junction resident Dale Higgins will talk about his 50 years of auctioneering and how it has changed over time, including how there are fewer live auctions now and more are happening online. Higgins decided to become an auctioneer at the behest of his customers when he used to work on tractors and other types of engines. After working with a few professionals, he went to auctioneer school in the early 1990s.

The free program starts at 12:45pm at the Grand Junction Community Center. A meal will be served at noon by the Grand Junction Horizons Club for $12. Call 515-386-4408 to reserve a meal by Tuesday.
