The 2024 Bell Tower Festival kicks off tomorrow.

Bell Tower Festival Committee member Emily Dyer describes the overall change of the focus for Thursday night.

“What we’ve done in the past is we’ve tried to have Thursday night more of like a fundraiser night. But that just got to be a lot for our committee team. So instead this Thursday is going to be more of a fun-filled type of night and it’s going to be more of a family-friendly themed.”

The Thursday Night Block Party begins at 5pm with free inflatables, a foam party and live bingo; along with food venders and the brew station will be open for purchases. Dyer points out there are two new food contests with the Burger Battle at 6pm and the Pie Baking Competition at 7pm, where contestants have a chance to win a $100 cash prize and declare having the best burger and pie. She talks about why the committee wanted to include these new aspects.

“I think we’re just trying to reach out to a broad variety of individuals and I heard there some pretty good pie bakers out there that need to be showcased.”

To round out the night is karaoke at 7:30pm and a free movie night on the square with the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library with the movie, “Little Giants” at 7pm. The movie will be on the west side of the Greene County Courthouse with free popcorn served and attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating.

Additionally, several roads will be blocked off from traffic Thursday starting at 6am, with more roads blocked off on Friday. You can see the roads and when they will be blocked off below.
