The Guthrie Center Lions Club is preparing to celebrate on Monday.

Member Dennis Flannery says that 2024 is the chapter’s 100th anniversary, and they’ll be holding a Centennial Celebration dinner at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds Activity Center. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio a little more about the event.

“We’ll be having a meal program, and a little bit of a fundraiser. The event itself is also a fundraiser. We have designated the proceeds from our event to go to the kitchen at the Little Charger Daycare.”

Flannery mentions that the Little Charger Early Learning Center had their first day in their new building earlier this month, and that it looks like everyone is enjoying the new set up. He adds that the Lions are wanting to help cover kitchen expenses for equipment by donating the needed $50,000, and that the fundraiser at the century celebration will help them be able to do that. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from any Lions Club member, and the dinner begins at 6pm.
