Greene County hosted the South Hamilton Hawks (Jewell) in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball last night at Allensworth Field in Jefferson and Coach Kyle Stalder’s team won for the first time this season. Ten runs in the fourth inning put the game away for the Rams and they led 12-1 after four before winning 12-4. SH scored enough late runs to make the Rams play all seven innings, but 14 hits and the complete game pitching of junior Noah Hinote carried  the home team, now 1-10 overall and 1-8 in the conference. The Hawks fell to 3-8 on the season and 2-7 in league play.

Hinote allowed six hits, walked three, hit four with pitches, and recorded four strikeouts. All nine Rams had at least one hit, and junior Crew Conner doubled for the first extra base hit this season for the entire team. Junior Camden Jacobs was on base five times with three singles and two walks. He drove in one run. Conner singled to go with his two-bagger and he had two RBI. Junior Isaac Carman singled three times and he had a run batted in. Junior Gavyn Winters singled twice and he had one run knocked in, and Hinote had a single with two RBI. Freshmen Degan Miller, Bryce Stephenson and Jaron Jacobs, all singled.

The Rams host Roland-Story Wednesday at home after having tonight off.
