Greene County tried to avoid a two-game Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball sweep at the hands of Roland-Story (Story City) on Wednesday night at Allensworth Field in Jefferson, but the Norsemen were victorious by a 9-0 final. They are 12-8 overall and 6-4 in the league while the Rams fell to 1-11, 1-9.

Coach Kyle Stalder’s team was coming off their only win of the season on Monday, a 14-hit 12-run effort vs South Hamilton (Jewell), but the Norsemen held the Rams to just two hits and no runs. Junior Crew Conner doubled for the second straight game and junior Gavyn Winters singled. R-S sophomore Cael Faber struck out the Rams eight times without walking anyone. Senior Brett Schmitz had two singles and a double and drove in fiur runs fr the Norsemen,

The Rams are off until Monday when they travel to Nevada to take on the Cubs.
