Non-conference softball in Carroll vs. Kuemper Catholic resulted in a 5-4 bottom of the seventh inning loss for the Greene County Rams on Thursday night. The Rams and Lady Knights traded leads throughout with the home team scoring the winning run on an infield error in the bottom of the seventh inning. Kuemper tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth, also on an error in the infield, and there were two outs both times.

Only two of the five runs the Lady Knights scored were earned.. The right-handed Alaina Heard allowed seven hits, walked just three batters, one intentional, and she hit no one with pitches. The freshman struck out four batters, and the Rams had four errors.

Greene County collected eight hits, seven of which were in the last three innings, when three of the four runs were scored. Junior Addison Gannon had a sixth inning RBI triple to put Greene County up 4-3. Junior Payton Kokenge and freshman Sara Morlan each had two singles, and Gannon added a single to go with the three-bagger. Sophomore Kaycee Pittman and junior Daniele Madsen also singled once. Kokenge and Morlan each drove in a run.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams fell to 4-14 while the Lady Knights improved to 12-8.
